Waterproof Wall Putty is white cement based premium quality putty with some special unique properties. This ready to use powder putty can be used for external as well as internal applications. It can be applied on concrete as well as sand-cement plastered surface in order to provide smooth and uniform surface. It extends the life span of top coat paint.
Remove all dirt, loose particle, laitance from the surface with the help of emery stone, wire brush or putty-blade. Prior to application of Decotouch Waterproof Wall Putty, it is very necessary that the surface should be properly wetted with clean water to ensure good adhesion besides better coverage and easy workability.
Mix waterproof wall putty with 30-35% clean water by a trowel or paddle type mixer (250-400 rpm) to a smooth- consistency. Mixing time shall be 10-15 minutes depending on the quantity of material and mixing method. For better results, keep mixing the material frequently during application as well. As much material shall be mixed with water, as that can be consumed within 3 hours. The pot life of mixed materials is 3 hours at 30°C.
Freshly mixed waterproof wall putty should be applied on moist surface in a thin layer with the help of a putty-blade or steel trowel. It is essential that the application is done from bottom to upwardly direction with the putty blade or steel trowel. Allow the surface to dry for at least 4-6 hour and apply the second coat as mentioned above. After drying of second coat, allow it to dry for 3-4 days before the application of paint. If required, treated surface can be sanded with 320 no. sand paper before application of paint. Maximum 2-3 coats can be applied but the thickness of each coat should not be more then 1mm. Generally, overall coating thickness of 1 to 1.5mm is advisable for putty application. Allow 4-6 hours in between coats.
During extremely hot weather application, finished coat shall be cured by sprinkling of water for 1-2 days for best results. Do not apply thick coat (more than 1mm) in one go.
